SET Exam pattern to change in 2019
PUNE: The paper pattern for the State Eligibility Test (SET)
will undergo changes from the next year. There will be two papers instead of
three and the total marks will be reduced to 300 instead of 350.
The next SET examination for assistant professors will be
scheduled in February or March 2019 by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU)
for candidates in Maharashtra and Goa.
The changes in the SET paper pattern are in line with the
national exam which came into effect from this year.
The coordinator of SET at the SPPU, B P Kapadnis, said the
SET has been conducted 34 times so far by SPPU.
“The next exam is scheduled in February/March 2019 and will
be the 35th exam conducted by SPPU. This change in the paper pattern has been
done for the first time in many years."
Paper I will be for 100 marks and Paper II will be for 200
marks. Both papers will be held one after another and candidates will get three
hours time.
The exam will be held offline. The total questions asked in
Paper I will be 50 instead of 60 questions and Paper II will have 100
questions, Kapadnis said. It will also be mandatory for candidates to attempt
all questions.
Candidates will have to fill up online applications for the
exam. They will require Aadhaar card. Earlier, students could send objections
regarding the results, but this practice has now been stopped, said Kapadnis.
A merit list of students scoring above 40% in the open
category and above 35% in reserved category will be prepared.
